If you love the arts I highly recommend going to this event! The Starlight Ball is the highlight of all the Art After Darks year round. Here's a little about this years Starlight Ball:
" Prepare your senses for the subtle seduction of ARTafterDARK’s Circo di Notte. For this year's Starlight Ball, generously sponsored by Prada, The Honolulu Academy of Arts’ ARTafterDARK team gathered a group of trend-setting volunteers to create an exclusive soiree. Think: Italian circus meets decadent Berlin cabaret.
You’ll be ushered in by Master of Ceremonies See (Ong King Arts Center partner Cristian Ellauri), delighted by roaming artists, and tantalized by performer Candy Bar selling sensual chocolates (keep the wrappers — there may be a Prada discount inside!). You’ll find a transformed Academy swathed in animal prints and velvet, scarlet and gold for this alluring Felliniesque evening. Check each courtyard for a different scene and sound, and performances by the aerialists and acrobats of Samadhi, juggler The Amazing TJ, unicyclist Ari the Wise, and bandleader Kevin Hughs.
Mingle with other glamorous guests as you indulge in flavors from top Honolulu restaurants such as Cassis by Chef Mavro, 12th Avenue Grill and Michel's. Most of them are specially preparing Italian-accented dishes just for the event.
Tired of silent auctions? Circo Di Notte’s offerings will have guests in bidding wars, with a slew of Prada products, such as women’s handbags and accessories on offer. In addition, cutting-edge Honolulu artists such as Dana Forsberg, Sergio Goes and Richard Earl Leong Yu Ralya have donated works to the Art-Tini silent auction of small-scale art. It will even include a photograph by Halekulani CEO Peter Shaindlin.
All proceeds will go toward the Academy’s Art To Go Program—a non-profit outreach program that serves Hawai'i’s at-risk youth. In partnership with Hawai'i's social and public service agencies, community-based organizations and public schools, Art To Go sends qualified artist-teachers and supplies to host sites throughout the islands. So far, approximately 2,500 students in grades K-12 have participated in Art To Go programs at more than 30 locations. In many cases it is the children's first encounter with art."
