BULLET PROOF SCHOOL GEAR

"Mike Pelonzi and Joe Curran aren’t paranoid; they just have a few rules when it comes to their kids’ safety. No bike riding without a helmet. No boating without a life vest. And no going to school without a bulletproof backpack.

Only problem: the backpack didn’t seem to exist. So they invented My Child’s Pack, a bag with a back panel as bulletproof as a police vest that kids can use as a shield. It comes in four colors and costs $195. Since August, they have sold more than 1,000.

The idea came to them a week or so after the shootings at Columbine High School in 1999. Other parents were talking about gun control. Pelonzi and Curran, both firearms instructors, wanted armor. So they spent years shooting at bulletproof materials, trying to find one lightweight and cheap enough for a backpack. They say the material they picked, which, for proprietary reasons, they won’t name, stops bullets from 97 percent of the guns used in school shootings since Columbine — 9 millimeter, .22 caliber and .357 Magnum. Also: knives.

Pelonzi and Curran aren’t alone. A Florida-based company sells bulletproof clipboards to teachers. This summer, a British company started selling stabproof school uniforms.

Scott Poland, who leads crisis response for the National Association of School Psychologists, says the backpack-as-shield idea is ridiculous and won’t work. “Do you know how fast a bullet travels?” he says."

Seeing these products created from the rise of crime and violence in schools is heartbreaking.
Though the light is in good quality seeing that bullet proof gear is durable and the design is right.

Here's a dope quote for the students(who hopefully will never have to use these bullet proof bags to fend from bullets) from movie Bronx Tale & also quoted this in the One Be-Lo GRAY song:
"That when I get oler I would finally understand
Well, i finally did, i learned something from these two men:
You gotta get love and give love unconditionally
You just have to accept people for who they are

The sadest thing in life is wasted talent
and the choices that you make will shape your life forever."
